Bodegas Picos de Cabariezo located in the Liébana region, surrounded by the Picos de Europa mountains, an area where the ancestral winemaking tradition, which had been lost, has been gradually recovered.
This mountain vineyard boasts a unique microclimate and terroir, which imparts a distinct personality to these wines.
It is now the largest mountain vineyard in this region, nestled beneath the imposing peaks of Peña Sagra, with excellent south-facing exposure and approximately 12,000 vines of Mencía, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewürztraminer.
The predominant indigenous grape variety is Mencía, and this area boasts splendid century-old vines of this highly valued and exclusive varietal worldwide, found only in our region, and in Galicia and León. However, other varieties like Syrah and Gewürztraminer have adapted very well, adding unique touches to these wines.
While there is a small production of white wine, red wines are the primary focus.
